What is Cutivate and how is it used?

Cutivate is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of Atopic Dermatitis and Corticosteriod-responsive Dermatoses. Cutivate may be used alone or with other medications.

Cutivate belongs to a class of drugs called Corticosteroids, Topical.

It is not known if Cutivate is safe and effective in children younger than 3 months of age.

What are the possible side effects of Cutivate?

Cutivate may cause serious side effects including:

  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face lips, tongue, or throat,
  • skin pain,
  • skin tenderness,
  • swelling,
  • wounds that will not heal,
  • severe skin irritation after using the medicine,
  • weight gain (especially in your face, upper back and torso),
  • thinning or discolored skin,
  • increased body hair,
  • muscle weakness,
  • nausea,
  • diarrhea,
  • tiredness,
  • mood changes,
  • menstrual changes, and
  • sexual changes

What is fluticasone propionate cream used for?
Descriptions. Fluticasone topical is used to help relieve redness, itching, swelling, or other discomfort caused by skin conditions (eg, atopic dermatitis). This medicine is a corticosteroid (cortisone-like medicine or steroid).
How long does it take for fluticasone cream to work?
How long does it take for fluticasone (topical) to work? It can take a couple of weeks for you to see an improvement in your skin. If you don’t see any changes in two weeks after using fluticasone (topical), schedule a follow-up appointment with your healthcare provider.
Does fluticasone propionate cream help acne?
Fluticasone will not help with skin conditions such as acne and rosacea.
Can fluticasone be used long term?
Intranasal steroid sprays are safe for long-term use, and there is little evidence to indicate they cause significant systemic side effects. However, patients with chronic rhinitis who might use them for long periods should be advised to use them only intermittently and at the lowest dose that controls their symptoms.
